Main Spar Nutplates

I needed something small today. I need to go to bed early tonight, but I was itching to accomplish something after my huge building day yesterday. I remembered that I skipped some of the main spar nutplate steps from earlier. Let’s go back and hit those.

Okay, the first picture I could find was after drilling/deburring/dimpling the access plates, countersinking the spar flange for the nutplate attach rivets, riveting the nutplates on, then countersinking the spar holes to accept the access plate dimples.

Here’s the first one (of six) completed.

I’m not super happy with the way the dimples sit in the countersinks yet, but I’m nervous about going any deeper today.

They fit…okay. Not great. Just okay.

Here’s a shot of the third (of six) done.

It looks nice.

After completing all six access plates, I grabbed the big nutplates to attach to the spar web.

Here are the nutplate attached countersinks.

And a gratuitous lower picture.

Nice shop heads.

I think this next picture is the right spar.

yes, right spar, they put the sticker (from the left spar picture) in a different spot. Shrug.

1.0 today. 8 nutplates on the web of the main spar, then 24 each of the main spar flanges. 56 total.

I'm too lazy to fill this out. If you are actually reading this, send me a message, and I'll spend some effort on it.
