After this morning’s riveting session, I decided to switch gears towards getting the top skins prepped.

This generally looks like getting the skin out, edge-deburring first, scarfing the overlapping joint on the underside of the outboard top skin and the top of the inboard top skin, then deburring each hole, scuffing the inside surface, and finally dimpling each hole with my #40 dimple die in the DRDT-2.

On to the pictures!

I started with the two wing-walk doublers.

Then after edge-finishing, deburring, and scuffing the bottom surface, I started dimpling.

After the right inboard top skin was done, I propped it up so I could take a picture.

Oh yeah, don’t forget about priming the mating surfaces.

3.0 hours. It was HOT in the garage. Total today was 6.0 hours. Maybe tommorrow I can do a little more?
