Well, I started the day thinking I would get some right wing rib prep done, but as I started dimpling some ribs…..SNAP.
What?!?!

Ugh. What am I supposed to do now? I considered working on all the rib prep EXCEPT dimpling, but I got bored and decided to move on to riveting the left wing ribs to the main spar. So I got out the AN470AD4-5s (and -7s) and started plugging away. Don’t forget to put the manufactured head on the side with the thinnest material.

The seond five.

And shop heads for everyone’s viewing pleasure.

Then 60 more, and all the ribs are riveted to the main spar.

Then, I grabbed the microstop countersink and knocked out all of the main skin attach holes. They are coutnersunk to rivet-flush depth PLUS .007″, which is seven clicks of the countersink cage. After finishing, I taped off the spar and gave it a shot of primer as instructed.

While that dried, I looked around for something to do. A few posts ago, I decided to use the wing join strips as backing for a fuel tank access panel between the two tanks. One side of each strip is already predrilled for K1100-08 dimpled nutplates. So I got the holes drilled out to #19, dimpled, and used NAS rivets to get the nutplates attached. 28 more rivets here.

Then, I screwed it into the left inboard tank. Looks great!

Once the primer was dry, I clecoed on the now dimpled and primed top skin.
Hot dang, this is exciting. It looks like a wing!

Another angle.

And another angle!

3.0 hours, with 70 rivets for the main ribs, and 28 more attaching the nutplates for the inboard side of the left tank access plate.
